BASS Framework-based audio player

FoxTunes is a free audio and music player developed by the indie developer Aidan Gilbert. This open-source modular music player utilizes the BASS framework, which allows you to add and play your favorite songs with good playback capability. On top of that, it features ASIO and WASAPI output modes support, as well.

Stunning interface but lacking in many aspects

Once this player is installed and launched, you will be greeted by an interface that is divided into a two-panel layout. It gives you the liberty to open both the library of albums as well as the audio files it contains. If you view further into details of the song it also presents additional categories such as bitrate and format.

At the bottom part of the interface, the playback controls are placed along with the detailed view pane and settings option. However, some find it difficult to identify and access these, so, it requires some improvement. Nevertheless, it's still a great player alternative especially with its 'Mini' mode feature, which enables the player to keep floating on your screen for unobtrusive use.

The 'Mini' mode function will allow you to minimize your player into a small rectangle wherein only the album art, playback controls, and elapsed time bar is seen. However, it lacks an 'Always on top' option, which could make this player pinned on top of your other system activities. Furthermore, you only have two skin theme options to choose from and customization options are also lacking.

Needs more enhancement

FoxTunes is a promising audio and music player alternative, especially if it improves the aspects that many users find lacking. It contains the essential functions and features that most users are looking for a player. Adding more customizable options that can help the users modify this open-source player to the best setting that they will find convenient would be a welcome improvement.
